TARDIS
Hello, I'm the Doctor.
I've been travelling on my own for a while now, ever since some bad experience at Christmas I won't get into for now. I've been very occupied, having to stop the the K'yampians of K'yampo from going to war, the humans of the Orkney Islands from going mad due to time-loops, and the Azures of Cygnus Rae from confiscating my TARDIS because the colour blue is sacred to them.
Did you know that Cygnus Rae has only one ocean, whose contours form the largest natural perfect circle on any planet in the Universe? Well, now you do. The Azures all live around the shores of this ocean and are inspired by its vast blueness (yep, another planet with a blue sky). The other half of the planet is basically bare, except for the wild creatures which are allowed to thrive without hardly any Azurean interference, and can sometimes be a problem for them. When I helped the Azureans out, they were more than happy to give my TARDIS back. They're lovely people, really, and Cygnus Rae is a beautiful place, with all those temples and streets strewn with lapis lazuli. I wish I had had someone to show it to.
I admit it's not as exciting on my own.  On one hand, it's easier having one person less to look after, whose curiosity will inevitably lead them to some peril I will have to rescue them from on top of everything else. But, although you'd think it would be easier to think without someone wittering on in the background, I actually find it harder, strangely. I suppose it's just that I've got used to it by now.
As for the boredom that settles in between trips, I can handle it. There's always TARDIS maintenance to do. I tried watching By the Light of the Asteroids, to see what all the fuss is about, but it's not my thing. Then I remembered how Martha (a 21st century human that used to travel with me) had a blog which she updated now and then from the TARDIS and I thought I'd try that out. So that's what I'm doing here now, on LiveJournal. I think the date I've chosen is appropriate. Blogging in the year 2008 is not unfashionable, is it? Humans and your trends! I'll aim for weekly updates at least.
Did Martha blog because she missed having someone to talk to too? Ever since she left, I've been thinking about how I was unfair to her sometimes. Just proves that it's better for everyone if I just continue to do what I do on my own. Even when I'm not throwing my travelling companions into mortal danger without them asking for it, I can't seem to be a proper friend to them.
Just me and my TARDIS, then. If there's anyone in the Universe who can put up with me, it's her.
Keep 'em peeled!
